Week Beginning 16.10.17

Dear Parents/Carers,

Harvest Service

Didn’t they do well!  We hope you all enjoyed the performance on Wednesday.  Thank you for your support with costumes and learning lines.  The children did a super job.  Harvest boxes have now been collected and will be distributed amongst the community.

Swapped coats?

Does your child have a blue mountain warehouse raincoat age 5-6?  Have they come home with one aged 7-8 by mistake?  Please check labels and return to school if necessary.  A child has lost his (it has his name in) but he has yours.

Homework

Children will be writing their own adventure stories so we would like them to generate some ideas to help them with this.

School Council

Congratulations to our new school council reps and well done to everyone who created and presented their poster to their class.

Literacy

We will be planning and writing our own adventure stories.

Numeracy

This week we will be beginning to work on written methods for addition and subtraction using number lines and partitioning.

Topic

We will be finishing off our plant topic by investigating the conditions for germination.

Art

We will be focusing on autumn and recording our observations as drawings.

Parent Appointments

Please remember to sign up for the parent appointments next week if you haven’t already, you can access the booking form by following this link https://www.parents-booking.co.uk/stmartinsprimary

Trip to Candie Museum

On the morning of Wednesday 1st November we will be visiting Candie Museum to launch our new topic on The Celts.  Please let your child’s teacher know if you can come with us – we will need several extra adults with each class.

School photos

A photographer will be in school on Thursday 19th October to take our annual school photos.

Thank you for your continuing support and we look forward to seeing you next week.

Year 3 Team

Times Table Rockstars!

Coming home in the next few days are your children’s logon details to an exciting new website designed to help children increase their speed and accuracy with times tables.

Year 3 is a really key year for the learning of times tables, so we’re very keen that our children get as many opportunities to learn them as possible!

All the children have had a go at using the website today, have chosen a rockstar name (!) and designed their avatar (cartoon-like profile picture character), as well as taken part in some challenges too.

In order to log in, use the details sent home, (either on a card, or a sticker in reading record) and click the link below to find instructions.

Rock on!
