Week beginning 16.7.18

Dear Parents/Carers,

India Celebration Day:

A massive thank you for all of your support throughout this topic! The children looked fantastic in their costumes and we hope that you enjoyed sharing their work with them.

Bags for Books:

Your child will be coming home shortly with their workbooks from Year 3.  As we have been working them hard, there will be quite a few to bring home! So we ask that the children bring into school a strong plastic bag that has their name on it on Monday. They will need to keep bringing the bag into school until we have cleared our shelves!

Shadow Puppets:

To finish off the year in style, the children will be creating their own shadow puppet shows! We are therefore looking for any empty boxes that the children can use as theatres – they can be of any size although the larger the better – so if you have any that could be brought into school we would be very grateful. Children will also need torches to light up their theatres.

Sun, sun, sun:

Please make sure your child has a hat and has sun cream applied daily, as we will be trying to get out as much as possible in the last few days.

Library Books:

Please could the children bring back all library books next week. Any issues with lost books then please let your child’s class teacher know.

Reading Book Amnesty:

Please could you have a look through your child’s books at home and if you spot any that belong to school please return them, no questions asked! Our supply looks a little thin on the ground.

P.E.

Will will be doing Outdoor Games on Wednesday as usual, so please make sure your child has their kit!  This is our last session with Kerri from the Sports Commission.

Reports

Children will be bringing their reports home on Monday.  We would be grateful if you could return the reply slips to us asap.

Goodbye and hello

Good luck to Miss Simpson who is moving to Year 2 next year.  We’re looking forward to welcoming Mr Shack to the year 3 team in September.

End of Year

Wow – the year has passed so quickly and will end on Thursday 19st July at 1pm. The children will not need their lunch but may need a little extra for their break time snack to keep them going.

Wishing you all a sunny and happy Summer Holiday, thanks for a great year!

India Celebration Day – Friday 13th July

Just a reminder that today is our India Celebration Day.  Children will need to wear either an Indian style costume or the outfit they wore for the India schools day at the beginning of term.

In the morning we will be tasting some Indian foods, finishing off our fact files and dances and competing in an Indian quiz!  We look forward to sharing our learning with you in the afternoon. Please come and visit from 1.30pm.

Hanging out with Hyderabad

We had a lovely time today chatting with the Indian school which we were amazed to know is a massive 7,999 km away from Guernsey!

The children told us about their families, what they like doing at school and where they like to go on holiday.   We enjoyed learning a yoga routine before Millie and Phoebe taught the children one of their dance routines and we told them how we keep fit and healthy.

It was lots of fun and we can’t wait for the next session next week.

Week Beginning Monday 9.7.18

Dear Parents/Carers,

Miss Strange’s class swimming:  Please could the children bring in some light weight clothes for their swimming session on Monday.  Cotton t shirt, shorts, pjs are ideal, nothing too heavy or thick as they will be swimming in these clothes as part of a life saving session.

Reading book amnesty

Please have a good look on book shelves, under beds etc for any school books that belong in the library or classroom.  Our shelves are looking a little bare.

Literacy and Topic

The research is well under way.  We are using our reading and writing skills to create our own fact files.
