Week beginning 26.02

What a busy half term it has been, we’ve had a great time tasting Greek foods, reading and writing Greek myths as well as learning all about our bodies.  Here is the update for the first week back:

Pop Up Restaurant

On Friday 2nd March you are invited to come to our Pop Up Greek Restaurant and sample the healthy foods the children have made.  The restaurant will start at 1.30pm.  There will be space for each child to invite 2 people.  Younger siblings are welcome, but please be aware that there will not be a lot of space for buggies etc.

Please let your child’s teacher know if you are available to help us prepare food in the morning.  We are always really grateful for any extra pairs of hands.

Homework

There will be no formal homework set for the holidays however please continue to practise times tables, rainbow targets and reading whenever you can.

Literacy

We will be assessing our learning so far in Literacy, and creating menus ahead of our Greek Restaurant on Friday.

Numeracy

This week, we’ll be recapping how to find fractions of shapes and numbers as well as using those skills to help us create our Greek Salads!

Topic

The healthy me topic continues with children learning about food safety and healthy diets.  We have also started to learn about our brains and what it means to have a growth mindset.

We wish you all a happy half term, see you next week.

Year 3 Team

Week Beginning 12.02.18

Dear Parents/Carers,

Goodbye and Hello

Sadly, Mrs Karia is leaving us at half term to return to the UK.  We will really miss her!  We are pleased to welcome Mrs Claire Le Prevost to the year 3 team.

Homework

This weeks homework will be focusing on  connectives as it’s our whole school target. Please see homework sheet.

Literacy

We will be continuing to learn the text ‘How to live happily ever after’ and beginning to write our own similar instructions on how to be a good friend.

Numeracy

We will be revisiting division methods and learning how to divide 1 and 2 digit numbers together. Towards the end of the week, we will be spending some time assessing our learning in numeracy.

Topic

We had a great time visiting the Co-Op to buy food for our Greek food tasting.  Thank you to everyone who gave up time to help.  Now we’ll be using our experiences to design our own healthy Greek salad.

Pop-Up Greek Restaurant

One of the highlights of Year 3 is our Pop-Up Greek Restaurant, which will be open on Friday 2nd March from 1.30.  You are invited to come along to taste the children’s wonderful (!!), healthy creations.  It is always a popular event, so we would ask that you limit your number of guests to 3 per child. If you are available to help during the morning, please let your child’s teacher know – there’ll be lots to do!

Many thanks,

Year 3 Team
